A 2-week intensive course and
clinic in Bali, Indonesia
From Monday, July 21st to Thursday, July 31st 2008
Come experience the magic of the island of Bali and gain an incredible experience in treating pediatrics and Ob-Gyn with sho-ni-shin, acupuncture and Chinese herbs.
This intensive course will give you the opportunity
to treat infants, children, women and mothers in a village
setting and give you credits for both the NCCAOM and
California license renewals.
The course will be divided into morning lectures and afternoon clinics.
For the afternoon clinic, you will be shuttled to an authentic traditional Balinese village in the Ubud area where you’ll be able to treat a high number of patients and see a wide variety of conditions and some quite amazing cases. We will be offering these free treatments with the help of translators to the local population. The clinic will be held in the “banjar”( the main meeting hall where important village decisions are made by the village chief and elders). The clinics will give you the hands-on experience to put into practice the topics from the morning classes. Each week there will be 2 pediatric clinics and 2 women’s clinics.
The Ob-Gyn classes will cover:
- Syndrome differentiation, acupuncture point prescription and Chinese herbal formulas for pregnancy related problems ( morning sickness, edema, hypertension…)
- Post-partum ailments (lactation problems, pain, depression…) and long time range disorders originating from unhealed deliveries, or depletion from nursing time, which often affect mothers.
The pediatric classes will cover:
- Learning the sho-ni-shin method and practice time with the tools. During clinic time, Soma will demonstrate the use of sho-ni-shin on children and you’ll perform your own treatments under her supervision.
- Diagnostic methods unique to babies and children and the importance of the right diagnosis
- Acupuncture points, herbal formulas and homeopathy for acute disorders which form the core of pediatric practice such as fevers, respiratory infections, and digestive problems
- Mental and behavioral disorders such as mental retardation, autism and hyperactivity.
- Dietary and lifestyle recommendations
Soma Glick will be your teacher and clinic supervisor. More information about Soma is available at: www.somadevi.com
We require that you bring your own acupuncture needles, moxabustion and sho-ni-shin kit. And if you can, it will be helpful to have medical tools such as thermometer, othoscope, stethoscope or blood pressure monitor.
