ABOUT THE PRESENTATION

Treating children with Chinese Medicine is profoundly satisfying. To influence an individual's health before complex patterns are habituated, is a profound contribution not only to the child and parents, but also to the society graced with healthy, vital adults. Treating common childhood complaints can prevent years of medical intervention and the development of chronic disease.

This one-day course will present an in-depth differentiation of syndromes and treatment of respiratory and G.I. disorders in children with the use of sho-ni-shin, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.
In the morning we will cover such common childhood illnesses as fevers, cold and flus, ear infections, sore throat and swollen glands, as well as cough and asthma. We will also address tips for prevention and how to boost the immune system.

In the afternoon, we will go over general dietary recommendations, looking at breast feeding and the weaning period as the start of many G.I. disorders and the important role of diet for health in general and specifically in various behavioural disorders. We will cover the most common G.I disorders such as colic, poor appetite and malabsorption, food accumulation and bowel disorders.

Numerous case studies from the presenter's own practice will be used to illustrate the practical use of these theories.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Soma Glick, Dipl.Ac & C.H., D.O.M., L.Ac and Cert. CHom has taught week-end seminars on pediatric Oriental Medicine around the world and has been published in the Journal of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Today. Soma resides in Bali where she has a private practice and donates one day a week to treat infants and children in a birthing clinic. Seeing an average of 30 children a week, Soma has become a true expert on the treatment of children with Chinese Medicine. She lectures only occasionally in the United States, and it is a rare treat to hear her speak.
